The GRE Word List
If you're taking the GRE, its a great list to know. If not, it's still a great list to know.

Superabundantly Sesquipedialian Verbiage
This list makes a point of showing how English has words that take five and six syllables to say what you could in one or two. Also known as the Dork List, these mostly Latin-derived words are really a mouthful.

Foreign Language Lendings
All of these words are originally from another language, but are used in English speaking and writing. Mostly French, these are bon mots to know for repartee at your next dinner party to avoid looking the gauche hoyden.

Old Words
See what some common English words used to mean; learn words that have fallen out of use.

Interesting Etymology
Made especially for the burgeoning logographer, this list illuminates the fascinating paths these words took to get to what they are today.
